'73 Connect' Launches in Wrexham!

Supported by Ffilm Cymru & BFI Network.

73 Connect is a series of events tailored for new and emerging filmmakers in North East Wales, connecting them with established talent & production companies as well as providing career-focused guidance and opportunities.


The first series of sessions will run every Tuesday night in October at The Wrexham Enterprise Hub.

Matt Redd & Ryan Hooper from production company Standoff Pictures discuss writer/director/producer roles and relationships.


Matt and Ryan's feature 'The Toll' is a black comedy thriller developed on Ffilm Cymru Wales’ Cinematic scheme, shot in Wales last year and currently in post-production. The film will star Michael Smiley, Iwan Rheon, Paul Kaye and Annes Elwy.

Ade Shannon from production company Mad as Birds discusses developing ideas and the script development process for film.


Mad as Birds is an independent film & television production company based in the North West of England and North Wales. MAB's debut feature was the critically acclaimed and award winning SET FIRE TO THE STARS, starring Elijah Wood and directed by Andy Goddard. Their next feature is the psychological thriller THE VANISHING which releases in 2019, starring Gerard Butler, Peter Mullan and directed by Kristoffer Nyholm.

A breakdown of the film value chain, including an overview of UK distribution landscape & identifying potential audiences.

Faye Hannah of Ffilm Cymru Wales and Our Colab explores routes into film & talent development as well as funding and support on offer for new and emerging filmmakers.


Faye has previously managed learning, awards and events for BAFTA Cymru, acted as Interim Director for Creative Skillset Cymru as well as lecturing on events management at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama's prestigious Arts Management MA course. Faye's passion is working with industry, training and education.

Bookings for all sessions can be made here. These are £5 per session or £20 for all 5. We expect some sessions to be extremely popular so booking as early as possible is recommended.


Sessions will run from 5.30pm-9pm with food and drink included.
