'In Between Spaces' Heads to Mexico + Crowdfunder Launched!

Updated: Jun 15, 2020

Innovative multimedia show 'In Between Spaces' is heading to Mexico this winter to be performed in Guadalajara for The British Council.

The show, produced by Signdance Collective (UK) and Transmitter Performance (Austria), blends music, dance, sign language, film and spoken word into an immersive live experience. Wrexham-based 73 Degree Films are production partners for the show which features several films directed and edited by Robert Corcoran (73 Founder).

It's an amazing opportunity for us to be able to take this show to Mexico. I hope that projects like this can inspire artists and performers in places like Wrexham to push their work as far as possible - Rob Corcoran.

The show will perform at Tracing possibilities : the future is accessible, a project from The British Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Jalisco. The project will feature presentations by performing groups, and working groups of artists with disabilities that aims to generate regional alliances between artists with disabilities of Jalisco, United Kingdom and Mexico.

This represents the first major international booking for the show which was developed partly in Wrexham last year, with a preview at Undegun Art Space.

Building on this momentum, the team have now launched a crowdfunding campaign to try and help the show reach even more people.

This project has a strong community engagement participation programme for Disabled, Deaf, Black and Asian young people.' In Between Spaces' offers the company a unique opportunity to work with digital media, creative scripting, and new collaborators. This will further our visual/sign accessible performance work and reach new audiences. - Isolte Avila, Signdance Collective.

'In Between Spaces' will complete a full UK tour in 2020. For dates, booking enquiries and further information please see projektzplatform.com
